Starting Oracle Listener Service on an NT system

Hi there!

I'm a proud new administrator of an NT system housing an Oracle database. I had it working fine back in the US, but now in Kuwait I cannot get workstation access to the database.

While scanning the services in Control Panel I realized the Oracle Listening Service was not running although it is set to start automatically. When I attempted to start it I received error code 1067 "Process terminated unexpectedly" (ERROR_PROCESS_ABORTED) on the first try after each reboot, and then error 1240 "An internal NT error occured" on every subsequent attempt.

I checked the Oracle listener and TNSnames files to ensure all the host IP adresses and ports matched. Beyond that I'm not sure what to do to resolve the error.

The only variable between prior operation and now was the addition of OFFICE 97 Professional to each workstation and the server. To my knowledge, this software addition is not supposed to have any adverse affects on system drivers as far as running the oracle database is concerned.

Any ideas?
