Snap-in failed to initialize. 10.1B explorer tool

When I start the Explorer tool I receive an error. Snap-in failed to initialize.
I made sure the enviromental settings where correct.
Microsoft had a couple of solutions, but nothing worked.

It seems to come down to the fact that I have two installations of progress running. 10.1B and 9. The explorer tool from 9 works fine, but the explorer tool from 10.1B doesn't. So I think there is a problem within my registry.

Do you think my assumptions are correct?
Is it possible to run both versions on one server or do I need to install them on different servers and do I have to reinstall version 10.1B?
Can you think of other things that might solve this problem?

Progress is installed on a W2003S.

Are you sure that it is just Exploder that isn't working? Can you run Progress successfully from proenv?

FWIW -- I've had a lot of trouble running multiple versions of Progress when the DLC and PRO* environment variables exist in "My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables". You cannot set them "right" if there is more than one version of Progress installed. You have to remove them entirely. Make sure that the PATH doesn't include some specific version of Progress either.

Proenv works, but I'm not sure all commands are followed up as they should. I thought it was due to my lack of experience, but now I'm starting to doubt that. For instance, I can't stop (and probebly start) the database via proenv.
I had a lot of problems with the DLC aswell, but that is solved since I have a new admin account with local administration rights.

So far it seems I have to relocate the old version, unless someone knows of a way to run both versions next to each other and maybe has a checklist of requirements for me.

sorry to but in like this but i also have the same problem.. when i try to open progress explorer it display an error message "mmc could not create a snap-in" im using windows 7 OS... tanx
