I was not talking about multi-threading but about concurrency techniques. On performance and scaling read about erlang and how they perform, scale and realise fault-tolerance. At least Holland oe is already disappearing for many years. I've worked almost 20 years with it as a consultant, I know what I'm talking about. I'm of course not saying the applications were replaced with erlang. ;-)
