Hi all,
Am a bit intimidated at the moment really! Progress is all a bit scary, seeing as i only program in C, C++, Visual Basic and Java (done a bit of SQL though :) )

I am starting a new job next monday with a very big company (am chuffed) as part of their development team. I did not need any Progress4GL to start as they said they will train me up fully (when i start i will be doing a week on tutorial, then a week in slough for big boys training!)

I have downloaded a few E-Books which i am working my way through - seems like a brilliant language, database orientated, higher than VB, but as flexable as C++, the fourth generation language!

My question is i would like to teach myself (very keen programmer ;)) before i start my job, get some inside information if ya like :) I only have the books, to look at no way of interacting and programming. I have downloaded ED for windows, but no luck with configuring it for Progress. Is there any other programming environments just for Progress which i would download?

Many Regards

Mike

I don't think you really need to buy any program environment, the default environment offered by the progress development license is very good.

You might want to have a look at http://www.global-shared.com/ they have a lot of good stuff there, including a very good windows api from progress reference, example programs and tools.

Hi,

A single user Provision envrionment costs about $4000. I think your stuck with reading about Progress until you start work.
