Well I'm new here so please be gentle! I'm also very new to progress (2 weeks max!). Coming from a .net and SQL background I'm finding the transition more than a little odd.

Anyway, that's the introduction out of the way...

back to work!
 
Welcome to PT, and the wonderful world of Progress. You found this place two weeks in, and it took me three years to find it, so you're already ahead of the curve! :)

I would recommend you to not try to think too much SQL when working with the Progress database - it is not an SQL database in the first place and there many differences between SQL and the Progress ABL. Most prominently the ABL is record oriented whereas SQL is result set oriented.

In the past when I was still running Progress related trainings I always suggested my students to empty their bottle so that there is room for something new.
