move progress 8.3B from aix 4.3.1 to aix 5L

Hi all,

-----move progress 8.3B from aix 4.3.1 to aix 5L

I moved the binaries and the db but when i try to start the db i get
SYSTEM ERROR: Unspecified shared memory error errno=1 (1180)

any ideas?

Besides Tom's exhortation to upgrade (which is both valid and the best solution)....

If you just "moved" the binaries et al instead of doing a reinstall, you likely don't have a reliable/good/actual installation of Progress and are missing things. Why don't you try re-installing Progress to insure that everything that Progess needs to run is there and that the O/S and Progress play nice with each other?
 
i do not have any disks for the progress, but all the commands run successfully.

I've already tried truncating the bi but i am getting the same message.

the upgrade option is not for now due to cost.
