Is there a Keep-Alive parameter for Red Hat linux?

Hello,

we seem to have a lot of connectivity issues (over WAN). Something like this:

The problem is, users reach a point in time during the day when something is basically killing the sessions crashing out of the front-end app. I know this can be handled programmatically, but at the moment this is not an option.

There is a thread on how to setup keep-alive parameters on AIX:

I am not sure if this would help with the database connections, this is for AIX, we've got Progress on Red Hat Linux and can't find any links.

Can anyone comment on whether this could keep the sessions from the Client app to the database alive just in case there is a network overload/glitch?
Has anyone used this?

Thanks
Richard
