How to run a Progress 32 bit server application on 64 bit server?

Install a supported release of Progress.

Most current releases are 64 bits. But 32 bit Progress runs just fine on most 64 bit platforms.

Of course running some ancient, obsolete and unsupported release of Progress on a bright and shiny new OS is begging for trouble.

If you could be a bit more specific about what OS and what release of Progress you have in mind then we could likely be more specific about the issues you might (or might not) face.

it works, no problem,

a little trick ...
At the installation of Progress we need the required java version
(see "product availability guide" on progress website).

If you already have a 64bit java version the installation works, but this can cause a lot of trubbles.

If you are under unix, first install a correct 32bit java version, export the JAVA_HOME and
add $JAVA_HOME/bin , first place in PATH.
On win32 the good version of java is provided by Progress, no problem.
