Question How To Restore A Large Database From Progress 9

Hi! I'm new in Progress, and my first assignment is to restore a database from Progress 9. I am using OpenEdge 11.
When I use the command 91_dbutil prorest <dbname> <backupfile> the following error ocurred;


Restore failed. (1618)Unable to extend data files enough to proceed. (6743)

What can I do?

A quick search for 'openedge error 6743' points me to Progress KB - prorest fails with error (6743)

Hi jurriaan, thanks for your response.
I don't have the .st file and don't have access to the server where the backup was made.

You probably need to create a .st file and provision sufficient space for the restore. It may be a trial and error process. If you can find an old one to base it off that might help.

If you cannot find a .st file, the attempted restore should have created a bunch of files before it crashed that you could reverse engineer a skeleton .st from.
