Sounds like your problem was slightly different than ours. If you weren't seeing massive waits or queuing with iostat that would seem to point in the direction of some kind of connection failure. If you were seeing few reads/writes with lots of waits and queuing then that would probably point towards horrible disk speed. It will be interesting to see what they come back with on the SAN side.
