OE REPL

  • When it is working it does a great job and provides an excellent safety net.
  • Getting it setup and working is a pain in the posterior.
  • The "documentation" leaves a lot to be desired.
  • The configuration files are "quirky".
  • It is very delicate.
  • The log files are almost completely useless.
  • There are far too many operations that result in needing to rebaseline.
  • The new "replication sets" stuff is fantastic (once you get it configured).

ANY OE REPL FANS?
What do you like about OE REPL and what do you dislike about OE REPL?????
Ive used replication in various db products, I was once an escalation engineer at Microsoft for transactional replication, fathom replication is the most stable replication solution i've used. Its trivial to set up and administer and provides metrics via vsts so you can visualize via windows products if you want. As a DBA Im really happy with progress openedge, its incredibly stable and since weve just used the vsts to build our own monitoring it provides a level of insight thats equivalent to mssql or oracle. Great database.
