Wanted a simple book.........

Hello friends
Being a new Progress Developer, I am getting difficulty in knowing this software. So I request the community to provide me name of the book (the sites as well) which helps me to grasp the idea. I am looking forward to getting the name as soon as it would be possible for you all.

Hi Prajan,

It all depends on what you want to know.

I, for instance, found the online help very usefull in understanding Progress. It gives code example and clear explanation of the language.

the programming handbook is sort of the progress tutorial. though it's pretty
thorough, so i wouldn't recommend you sat down and read it all in one go.

what usually works for me when i'm going into a new tech is doing some sort
of crash course and getting my hands dirty. later on when i actually have a
need or some interest i'll go on to the more advanced stuff.

besides i think progress nowadays is way to big to know everything about it
and most of us (normal people) specialize in some area. otherwise you will be
very busy just trying to always keep up.

another thing you'll need to keep in mind is that progress is different then
other 3gl's you may be used to, so you'll need to keep an open mind.

learning like breaking up with a girlfriend and many other things in life is like
tipping over a coke (vending) machine, you need to rock it back and forth a
few times before it finally falls over. good luck and welcome!

the best book to start progress "progress 4 gl essentials" after that you can start "language tutorial" & then "programming hand-book.
