Validate inline field editing consistently

If you edit a field inline (without editing the entire page), the field is validated differently than if the entire page is edited. For example, if you have a validation in place to warn the user if a certain value is present, if that field is edited inline, the user gets a "hard" error and cannot bypass the warning as they could if the same field was edited when the entire page was placed in to edit mode. This is a very bad user experience. As a result, we've had to do all our field validations via triggers instead of the built in field validation features. Please make inline editing consistently validated.
