Unknown user logged into database

Hi,

I am faced with a strange situation since last 2 weeks. We noticed a unknown userid locking up our Mfg/Pro tables on a particular database only. The user does not even have a valid UNIX login even though we see a user entry in /etc/passwd.pag file. Even the UNIX admins have no clue and while they investigate, Any idea how this can be de-bugged or traced Any clue is greatly appreciated. We use Progress Ver 9.1d on HP-Tru 64 Unix.

Thank you

9.1d is, of course, ancient, obsolete and unsupported. Tru-64 is too isn't it?

Perhaps you could share a little more information. How is it that you "notice" this? Do you see something on a screen somewhere? Could you maybe post a screen grab or two or three?

Is it a self-service connection, or remote? If it's remote can you get the name of the machine that it's on?

We come to know only after a user reports that the table is locked by this userid for long time on his mfgpro screen. I will try to get a screen grab.

We checked the remote bi tools of any possible locking but didn't find any. The user found the table locked on the Qxtend Admin interface tool. It showed the message as "in_mstr in use by abbel0_1 on pts/5. Wait or press CTRL-C to stop. (121)". Therefore couldn't make out how this user is connecting.
