It seems we now have an approval queue. I'm not sure what the requirements are for posts to end up there, but about 80% of spam has been captured there in the last few days. It does mean we still have to go and remove the posts etc, but at least you are seeing a lot less of it.

Thanks Chris. There does still seem to be quite a lot of it getting through. :(

It's a never ending game of whack-a-mole sometimes ;)

I'll see if there are any plugins for spam prevention that may be helpful as well.

I don't know what it would take to supress it but I'm pretty sure that any title that starts with "http" is going to be spam.

Tom, looks like they took your post to heart.... the latest batch of spammage doesn't have the 'http'. :(

The last few days have been ridiculous. Quite a lot caught by the spam filter, and a lot got through it too.

Are there XenForo plugins that limit what new users can do? E.g. posting polls and links. Or plugins that make account creation more challenging for bots?

I reiterate my comments about thread titles that are nothing but a URL -- instant spam. Every time ;)

If the forum software was written in 4gl I'm sure I could code something up. Sadly my skills probably don't extend to whatever XenForo is written in :(
