Position Description:
Leads test project planning, estimating, and scheduling as relates to the performance benchmarking, testing and improvement of the company’s ERP and SCM application suite. Provides leadership in regards to test planning, test design, test creation and maintenance, as well as defect tracking and reporting. Works under minimal supervision. Builds performance and test scenarios, including testing method documentation and reports from customers in alignment with testing scenarios. Identify and prioritize performance issues as they appear.
1. Reviews current product development plans, determines testing priorities and develops performance test project schedule. Schedules and assigns work to project team members. Coordinates testing activities to ensure timely test execution. Determines and reports the release readiness in terms of overall application quality measured by the number and severity of defects uncovered.
2. Develops and maintains the Performance Test matrix. Keeps system test suites current. Creates and performs complex testing scenarios. Mentors junior Performance test engineers in the best practices and company procedures for performance testing.
3. Provide expert knowledge of performance test procedures. Provide in-depth knowledge of application usage and functionality. Implements improvements to the processes for performance testing and reporting. Reviews and audits test plans, procedures, and results for adherence to standards, content quality, coverage and adequacy.
4. Leads advancement of testing techniques and methodologies. Promote test case re-use and efficient use of resources. Lead advancement of team’s use of test automation tools and ensures the test library function supports the testing effort.
5. Plans and coordinates necessary system test environments with Development Support. Participates in ISO audits as system test lead.
6. Use appropriate testing tolls (Winrunner, Loadrunner) to create, execute and maintain all necessary testing scripts. Utilize the appropriate performance tools to identify bottlenecks and other performance obstacle (memory leaks, inefficient database calls, etc.)
Identifies opportunities for improvements to testing procedures and standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance, computer science, other field relevant to QAD’s core business (e.g., manufacturing, ERP, supply chain management), or equivalent work experience. Experience with database applications, client-server applications, or web-based applications in quality assurance and performance testing. Technical experience with large commercial software application development, especially performance testing and quality assurance. Application operation or administration experience a plus. Experience in mentor or supervisor role. 6 years of experience in professional software testing role(s).
Special Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of one or more aspects of the manufacturing processes is required. Excellent general application knowledge and deep knowledge in one or more areas. Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle and proficient in performance testing methodologies, including test automation. Must also possess significant and successful experience in identifying and resolving existing and potential performance obstacles in enterprise business applications. Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills as well as excellent computer skills. Must be team oriented and be able to work independently.
