We need to constantly update item BOMs due to part assembly changes, and we need to make sure that the sequence (Current Materials SEQ field) matches what we show on the BOM of the part drawings. The problem is that we cannot define the sequence number of an item after a BOM has already been set up.
Example. If a BOM has the following
Seq 10 - Item A
Seq 11 - Item B
Seq 13 - Item D
Seq 14 - Item E
If we need to have Seq 12 - Item C added, the only way to achieve this is to delete Seq 13 and Seq 14, enter Seq 12, and then re-enter Seq 13 and Seq 14. If we don't delete Seq 13 and Seq 14 first, Item C will get entered as being Seq 15 (ie. the next sequence number). This isn't a major issue for part assemblies with small BOMs such as this one, but when we need to add an item to a BOM with 50 or 100 entries, it can be very time consuming to remove and replace all items and item quantities.
Is there any way to define an item's sequence number in a BOM without having to do this?
