[Stackoverflow] [Progress OpenEdge ABL] Openedge CHUI Application: Default keystroke behavior issue

Openedge CHUI Application: default keystroke behavior issue when running the application from command line. For example: spacebar clears one character at a time in a character fill-in. If the same application is invoked from Progress editor, keys work as expected. Any idea why behavior of keys would get fixed by going to editor?
