NPO Solutions, a division of MicroEdge and wholly owned subsidiary of
Advent Software, is seeking a Software Developer to further develop the
FIMS foundation management application from its Litchfield, Connecticut,
area office.

Since 1993, NPO Solutions has been the leading provider of information
management software to community foundations and the major producer of
foundation software that integrates fundraising, grants management, and
financial management into a unified system. Over the past eight years,
NPO Solutions has grown from a two-person venture serving three community
foundations to a major provider of integrated software solutions to nearly
three hundred institutional clients with more than 1,600 users. NPO
Solutions has offices in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Minnesota.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform programming and analytical work to develop and enhance FIMS
(Foundation Information Management System) application software. Clients
are primarily non-profit charitable organizations including community
foundations, religious foundations, and university endowments. FIMS is
a comprehensive software solution designed to integrate core foundation
activities such as constituent management, fund raising, grant making,
gift processing, contact management, asset tracking, fund accounting
and much more.

Responsibilities of this position include working with team members and
clients to develop detailed specifications. Interact with other NPO and
MicroEdge team members and report to NPO project managers. Develop new code
and maintain existing FIMS code. Deliver Internet or phone-based technical
support to our clients for FIMS. Contribute to the development of user
documentation. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Programming tools include Progress development tools, Progress ADM and ADM2,
and Crystal Reports. Database management systems include Progress Work
Group Database, Progress Applications Servers, and Progress web tools.

Some travel may be required.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree in MIS or Computer Science, or equivalent education
and experience, is required.

* One or more years experience or training is required in the following
areas:
- Progress 4GL (v8, v9) or VisualBasic.NET programming experience
- Relational Database / SQL
- Microsoft Windows (2000/NT/98/95)
- Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Access and Outlook)

* Good communication skills are required.

* Ability to read and understand complex technical documentation and
specifications is required.

* Background in accounting is preferred.

* Experience working for or with non-profit organizations is preferred.

* Knowledge of object oriented programming techniques is preferred.

* Experience using Crystal Reports is preferred.

* Knowledge of web tools and languages (MS FrontPage, HTML, ASP, XML,
SOAP, application servers) is preferred.

* Experience using Progress or SQL relational databases is preferred.
