Serial Port And error manage

Hi everybody,

I'm working for making an interface between a serial Port and process. I've read a lot of things but nothing about error management.
I have to be sure about it because with the serial port we are going to manage some very dangerous and quickly robot.

I'm free to Make a DLL, or an active X or using an existing program like fore example MSCOMM32.ocx.

What way would you take ??
Does someone have a sample program with MSCOMM32.ocx ??


Any answer will be greatly appreciate.

Is there realy anybody that can answer me ???

I forgot to precise , that the solution I'm devlopping must be compatible with Windows NT sp4,5,6 and Windows 2000 and with Citrix with windows 2000.
