Rename databases for backup

Hi

How can i rename databases as i just want a backup of them if anything goes wrong when i dump and reload the data

Why do you want to rename the database. as per your requirement simply backup the database and keep it at some different location.change the backup name anything else than your dbname(it doesnt make any diif) you can always restore it with the orignal dbname.

its only 1 database so thought if something happens got it there rather than retrieving from tape backup.

Really, a backup to disk is awfully easy and a very safe way to protect yourself in this kind of situation.

probkup /dir/file1 /dir2/new_filename.bkup
