Regular Kits vs. configured kits

There are items in QAD that are configured kits and there are items that are just kits.
If they are kits, QAD will take all active items for that components for that kit - sob_det.

My question is how do we know what items are normal kits vs. configured kits?

I think you are asking here about the KIT and ATO ( configured Kits) .
in item planning maintenence , you define the pt_pm_code (P/M code) as C and then configuration type as ATO or KIT . You need to define the BOM for configured items based on optional and mandatory items.This can be done in 8.1 .
