Rate Variance

- We use the advanced repetitive module for some of our manufacturing.
- We are getting large rate variances. It "seems" like it is picking
up Product Structures with the old costs that existed back in
time when the Repetitive was created !

Does anybody know how we can pick up the new BOMs and Costs? MRP
runs everyday. In addtion we have also run schedule explosion. Are
we doing something incorrectly ??

Derek,

And to get repetitive to recognize those changes, you also need to close
the current cum order and start a new one. Otherwise, just like a Work
Order, the costs, routings, and BOMs in place at the time of creation will
continue to be effective.

Close your cumulative order and transfer work in process if you want
your current order to pick up the engineering changes. I would expect
that you are already doing this at month end.

KK,

Whenever you change a routing or a product structure/formula, it is necessay
to run:

Routing Cost Roll-Up (14.13.13) and
Product Structure Cost Roll-Up (13.12.13).

Have you been doing this everytime?

If not, the system does not recalculate your costs, structures or routings.

Also, if you use routings with Standard Operations and you modify the
standard operation, it is necessary to run:

Routing Update (14.13.7)

to update the Routings with the changes to standard work centers and
standard operations. The alternative is to change each routing
individually. And once again, it is then necessary to do a Routing Cost
Roll-up.

Hope this helps!
