restoring a 10GB database is running for more than 3 hours. is this normal?

Where do you restore from?
do you restore from a remote location?

10GB backup is very easy to restore within 10 min.

PS always state your os, progres version and sp level. Also handy to tell the circumstances under which you perform the restore.

thanks for the quick reply. the restore completed in 03:42:30 for 1287780 db blocks (blocksize is 8192). restoring from disk (production full backup) to disk (test db) on the same machine.

btw, also noticed that the backup now runs for 3+ hours vs 30 minutes previously. what could have changed?

Are you reading and writing from the same disk?
What is your disk setup (raid, how much are they filled).
Any hardware errors? (maybe you lost one or more disks or have problems with a raid controller?)
