Progress Sockets/HELP!

I'm using Progress Editor 8.3b on HP-UX UNIX 11.0. I want to make a socket connection to a Windows platform. I need some direction on how to begin. I will be using IP 199.82.242.115 and port 2000. I would like to be able to have some memory variable sent/return to the Server/Client. The data sent is below.

8.3 has no native socket support thus you have 2 possibilities:
- upgrade progress to 9.1 or higher
- use third-party stuff to do that. I think it's not the problem to write a program on C which will do all things with sockets and communicate with 4gl application using files or pipes.

You're basically looking for something like winsock.dll in windows.

Try bringing it up @peg, plenty of unix and linux guys up there.
