This new release significantly expands The Progress DataDirect NoSQL and Big Data portfolio. What can it do for you?

Our latest release of Progress DataDirect for ODBC for Apache Cassandra Driver Release 8.0, along with our March release of the JDBC 6.0 connector, includes technology to normalize NoSQL data stored in Apache Cassandra. This technology for NoSQL databases is patented by Progress and is the first ODBC 4.0 specification feature to directly pass through native Cassandra Query Language (CQL) to the database.

Customer Use Case

In the data integration space, watch our webinar with Software AG, who distributes our Cassandra and DataStax JDBC connectors with the webMethods platform. Forrester Research recently named Software AG Leader of Leaders in The Forrester Wave™: Hybrid Integration For Enterprises, Q4 2016.

Key Takeaways for the Release

Our Cassandra ODBC and JDBC connectors will primarily be used for applications that support data management and analytics. To complete the analytics story, our Spark SQL connectors provide connectivity for more real-time analytics on Apache Cassandra.

Key highlights for the release include:

  • Drivers include Progress “Day One” support and Security Vulnerability Response policies
  • Drivers support connectivity to Cassandra 2.x and 3.x servers, including DataStax 4.6 and higher
  • Supports UDTs, tuples and other complex types
  • Driver automatically supports normalization to 1 level deep for Cassandra collection data types (list, set, map)
  • Fast performance accessing data using the Cassandra binary protocol
  • Support for executing native CQL via the new ODBC 4.0 spec defined {native} escape syntax
