As the new General Manager for Progress Rollbase (and Progress Corticon), I’d like to share my thoughts on the latest release of Rollbase—version 4.2. You can see a detailed description of the new features on our website.
Since its first release, Rollbase has been the fastest and easiest way to deliver web-based business applications via the cloud (also known as SaaS or Software as a Service apps). With 4.2, Rollbase now offers the fastest and easiest way to build responsive and adaptive UIs; generate rich, custom reports and easily work with external data. Many of these features were initially added in version 4.0, and continue to be enhanced and matured in version 4.2.
Responsive and Adaptive UIs
Responsive UI means that the application UI automatically adjusts to provide the best possible look and feel, whether viewed in a web browser or in different mobile devices. Rollbase automatically generates beautiful responsive UIs.
Adaptive UI means that developers can control what is displayed based on device type. Rollbase provides tools to rapidly build adaptive UIs without coding, while offering the flexibility to further customize the generated designs via JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
Custom Reports
Rollbase 4.2 enhances the custom reports feature introduced in version 4.0. Custom reports enable Rollbase developers to build rich, highly customized documents that present application data, again with minimal or no coding. Sample use cases include loan document, correspondence and invoice generation.
External Data Access
Version 4.2 also enhances Rollbase’s strong data integration capabilities, with the ability to add external data more easily into a Rollbase application.
Together, these features enable Rollbase users to quickly and easily automate end-to-end business processes, delivering applications with both rich user experiences and strong back-end automation.
