Progress GUI running under Linux/WINE

Has anybody here managed to get the Progress GUI running under Linux with WINE?

I have a potential requirement to move an entire application to open source platforms (not just the database servers). It seemed sensible to me to just run the current desktop under Linux/Gnome/WINE if at all possible.

So before I go off and spend weeks banging my head against a brick wall, can anybody shed some light on whether this will be a fruitfull excersise or not?

Thanks in advance

Duncan

I tried this on Mandrake 9.x It worked but for the size of the fonts available and there were boxes around every item on the screen. Looks a little odd. But I tried this a year ago and now the MONO-project has picked-up development of the basic components in the WineLib so I expect this to work better now.
I also tried RedHat 9.0 wine, but I could not get wine (current SF build) to run yet :-(

Thanks,

We have had problems getting WINE to work under RedHat 8.0 so far and there's no possibility of switching to another distro unfortunately.

Hello everybody,

I wake up this topic for a good reason :

Does someone have a "How to launch the Progress Gui under Linux/Wine ?"

And especially the Prowin32.exe from my Progress DB which is under a RedHat EL 4.

I'm a frequent user of Wine but I block in front of message such as "unable to open message file: promsgs".

I know that it is a variable...

Progress DB 10.1B
Wine 1+

Thanks you for reading.
