In case you are planning to take those backups online, keep in mind there is a max counter as per knowledgebase.progress.com/.../How-many-online-probkups-000068748.. . Once you hit it "A dump and load of the database is needed to re-initialise the counters on all database blocks." There is also a performance hit to the db, in our case any other process that runs at that time slows down significantly, the database record pool goes out a wack, etc...
