The fix was actually quite simple: In the same DOS-prompt that you use for running TCMAN (as Administrator!), enter set JAVA_HOME=C:\Java\jdk (where C:\Java\jdk should be the path to your alternate JDK-location), prior to entering the command tcman service Corticon register .
