Given the constraints this is a viable - temporary - solution / diagnostic tool as long as it's only used for this, it's highly documented, and removed when the problem is fixed. Alternatively would be to have a procedural pub/sub with a sub at the top of the stack and pub's where required. I'd consider this an inferior solution as its not encapsulated.
