I guess the project you mentioned is named as "FWD" which is an open source project. The tools in this project are for conversion purpose. I just want to keep using ABL because many ABL programs have to be maintained in my company. My idea is triggered by the tool “B4J”. So if the ABL code can be compiled in JAVA bytecode and run on JVM, the performance issue might be tackled.
