There is nothing about the use of Eclipse which is going to provide the missing pieces. There is a company who tackled a related problem of translating ABL into Java as a way for a company to get away from their ABL licenses (on which they had not been paying maintenance). The project was a massive overrun. It did eventually go live, but unsurprisingly it produced really ugly Java so, that, I believe, for a while they continued to make code changes in the ABL and retranslate it. I have no info on the performance of the translated code, but I doubt it was very good,, but the main point of the work was to make a hardware change without having to rebuy Progress licenses for the new boxes.
