This change in behavior was done on purpose to fix issue PSC00346178. When we make changes like this we try to determine what impact they will have on existing applications but with so many millions of lines of ABL code in the world the odds are always good that any change we make will affect somebody negatively. There should have been a release note for this change. There wasn't, and that's my fault.
