When you say you followed the instructions in the document, did you go down the path where you defined the connection via JNDI (p.11 - Locating the Connection Factory Using JNDI)? [I am looking at your code and think not. That you are using the setBrokerURL(...) option.] I have not used HornetMQ with OpenEdge, but what you are running into is that the JMS specification does not specify how to reference a connection as a URL.
