Thanks for bringing this up. Portal/ HTML/JS (both script component & serverside formulas) editor related developer UX & productivity is an area we will focus on beginning the latter half of 2016. This should include 1) Better editors ( fonts, syntax highlighting,editor responsiveness ) , meaningful content assist 2) Better syntax for AJAX API, looping constructs 3) easier access to script-editing mode from pages ( your post )
