Hi All,

Hope this post goes to the right forum.

I tried to install Progress 9.1c on a computer with specifications like this:
Windows XP SP3
Processor Intel D925 3.0GHz
2GB Memory
Enough free space

First: tried to run setup.exe from CD but setup.exe does not launch installshield. But I can see it running via taskmanager. So after a while (about 2 or 3 minute I've to kill it).
Second: tried to copy all files from CD to drive D with a same result.
Third: tried to install on another computer with lower/same specifications and it's running well.

No Windows Defender
Avast Antivirus Home Version
No Firewall.

Looking around progress.com got this clue:
ID: P17676
Title: "Setup.exe does not launch installshield"
Created: 01/17/2003 Last Modified: 10/16/2008 Status: Verified

Symptoms:
Setup.exe does not launch installshield
No errors present
Files from CD have been moved to the hard drive
Using Norton Antivirus

Facts:
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000

Cause:
Norton Antivirus is preventing setup.exe process to start

Fixes:
Deactivate Norton Antivirus on the client machine by following the steps:
1. Shut off Norton Antivirus.
2. Open Services from the control panel and set the Antivirus software to be manual.
3. Reboot the machine.
4. Re-start installation procedure

Last try: tried to disable / turn off Avast Antivirus but the result is same.

I guess the problems is related with software installed on that computer, but I dont have any clue which one caused the problems.

Sorry for my poor English. Hope you can understand the problems.

yeah I knew ..... :( .....

Well it's seems that I cant go anywhere to find out the answer ... *sigh* Progress 9.1c is all I got here, cant tell my boss here to buy a new version.

So I've to utilize it or leave it.

Last thing, I'll try to remove Antivirus from that computer. Hope it's work.
