Since noone can help me in exporting data withing my SCO box I try another way.

I'd like to connect to progress 8.3 running on a SCO machine via ODBC from my XP laptop.

Anyone can say me which ODBC driver I can use and if I neel other progress software on XP ?

Thanks a lot.

Oh my, 8.3, how painful. The SQL drivers are always a part of the Client Networking product at that age.

What is your problem with using the dictionary to export data?

Binary is using the external tools. I am talking about using the Data Adminiistration menus. Can you get an editor session? If so, go to the menu and select Tools->Data Dictionary.

He only has a runtime license. That's the problem. He needs xcoded or compiled 4GL programs to do an export of the tables.

I think 8.3 still uses oib (sql89). Progress 8.3 is sooo old that I don't think it is possible to purchase a driver for that anymore and I'm not sure if the client networking has a driver installed.

Casper.

Thanks for the answers.
As You can feel, I'm not expert about Progress at all.

I've read something regarding a compiled or xcoded program.
Is it possible to find it ?

On the web is easy to find Progress sources to export data but never binary.

Can anyone of you compile a program for me?
Is there a licence problem ?

Thanks a lot.

Try starting a session with the -rx parameter. That might get you to the Data Admin tools.

If you could find someone with a development license that old they would still need access to your database to compile a program against it. Depending on the size of the database and your willingness to send it to somebody, you might try the PEG for a wider audience ... somebody might have hung onto all their old licenses.
