TIMCO Aviation Services, Inc. is seeking a PROGRESS 4GL V8 or V9/WebSpeed
Programmer with a minimum 3 years of programming experience. The position
description and requirements are:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for analyzing requirements, preparing specifications, evaluating
hardware/software and preparing time and cost estimates for systems
development work. Participates in programming at all stages of project
development and implementation. Designs systems and carries out technical
reviews of systems, as designated by the Team Leader/Manager of programming,
and acts as a trouble-shooter for various systems problems. May be assigned
total responsibility for a project and considered a member of the technical
staff assigned to large projects with technical emphasis.
Specific Job Duties:
* Carries most of the first-time, analytical and technical
responsibility for programming projects.
* Maintain policies and procedures which manage IT program
requests.
* Maintain auditable program documentation and insure the
security of all program development.
* Keep detailed design considerations in focus and
program-using techniques which fit the requirements of the
"Progress" language and any other applicable languages and
operating systems utilized by the company.
* Give programming instructions as needed or user training as
required.
* Utilize system resources based upon company procedures and
requirements.
* Produce IT management information in a timely manner and
maintain a weekly operations report indicating program project
status and results of programming efforts.
* Maintain installed software per company procedures,
including but not limited to:
o A description of all changes.
o Maintaining a source module listing.
o Maintaining schema change or additions.
o Identifying procedure changes or additions.
o Documenting changes or additions.
o Record installation dates.
o Reviewing and submitting the following, to
the Team Leader, for all programming changes:
* "README" documentation.
* DIFFS
* Source code format.
* Compile and test code.
* Copyright application.
* Maintain open lines of communications, written and orally,
with all department managers and users.
* Maintain a level of technical knowledge which will benefit
the TIMCO IT function.
* Any additional responsibilities, as directed by the Manager
- IT Programming, that are deemed necessary for the timely
execution of TIMCO policy .

Job Qualifications:
* Four year degree or 3 years programming experience in
PROGRESS 4GL (v8/v9) or a similar 4GL language.
* Database analysis experience.
* Knowledge of activities and systems requirements within a
transaction intensive business environment.
* Aircraft systems background - desired.
* Hardware experience in a PC environment and server or
mini-computer environment (HP 9000 Series desired).
* Working knowledge of Web Technologies including WebSpeed,
JavaScript and HTML.
* UNIX, heavy PC experience and relational database experience
desired.
* Excellent oral and written communications, project
management and organizational skills and the demonstrated
ability to work as a team player are required.
Physical Requirements:
* Normal office environment where approximately 90% of work is
performed in a sitting position with balance of time walking
and moving around office area.
* Normal mental and visual attention with manual coordination
for keyboard operation approximately 50% of time.
* Normal or corrected hearing and vision required.
