problems with connecting db to adminserver

Hello all.

I've running
progress 9.1D
proservice for 9.1D
IIS 5.1

I want to start a database in progress explorer tool in my localhost server which is running on server port number 20931.


When I want to start the database, I get the message:

the item you requested to start is not networked
if you proceed sports2000 will be started but will have no communication with the admin server
the admin server will not know if it is running or not

proceed? yes or no

if i click on yes, I can't stop the database anymore and it keeps saying "starting up..." for several minutes, then i get the error

startup of database localhost:20931:sports2000 timed out. JUNMsg022

could somebody help me?

Any chance you found a solution to the problem, cos I'm experiencing the same difficulties attempting to get a "networked" database that an AppServer can access.

This is usually because you haven't started up the database with a port number. It'll only talk to the admin server if you have entered something here.


Drill down to the "Default Server Group" section for the database within progress explorer and add something in the "Service Name or port number" on the property sheet.
