OracleDS 8.2b + Oracle 8.1.7 Client on Solaris

Hello dear All!
Does anybody tried Oracle Data Server 8.2b vs. Oracle 8.1.7 client?
We are going to migrate to Oracle 8.1.7 and leave Progress 8.2c untouched. Is it possible or may be somebody knows any workaround?

Right now I'm trying to compile new _progres with no result.
I'd appreciate any help or hint.

Guys, sorry...
I've finaly have compiled the new _progres executable
... but unfortunately my 8.2c Progress is not able to connect the Oracle 8i DB.
The solution was in knowledge base articles 18769, 19602, 19835.

I'm really disappointed ((
