Open firewall for ODBC

Hello!!

I need to gain access to my db, located on my LAN, from my web-server, located in DMZ. I intend to use ODBC to achive this.

Is there any common ports that I have to open?
Is this spesific ports or a large dynamic range?

Any guidance is appriciated.

I all depends on your firewall. Some firewalls don't allow any traffic between DMZ and Trusted. You may well have to setup routing as well and have al local address on your DMZ that routes (NATS) to trusted network.

Exposing your live db to your DMZ means that your risking exposing your DB to the www.

What is common is exporting a sub set of data to a local db on the DMZ side and running all queries from the second db. It's usually easy to go from Trusted to DMZ.

Hope this helps.
