Online Backup with After Imaging

Hi there,

This may be a very quick answer but as our company moves toward a 24/7 infrastructure we will have the need to perform online backups. At present we have an afterimaging solution that through the use of scripts transfers its ai files every 15 minutes to a DR location and updates a hot standby database.

Every evening at 10:30 the database are shutdown through a scheduled task along with the scripts and a probackup is taken. My question is, is it possible to have the after image solution running 24/7 whilst performing an online backup at the same time? Or would AI need to be paused whilst performing an online backup?

Online backup will simply force an AI extent switch.

Works like a charm, no special need to "pause" ai or otherwise change anything about your existing setup. Just stop shutting down and convert your backup to the "online" variety.
