Online backup file size

On the platform of Windows Server 2008, when we backup online on the database of OpenEdge 10.1B, on the folder which we use to write xxx.bck named backup file, we see that the file size is 0 KB shown while backup is going on. When online backup ends, the real size shows as 10 GB.

What is the reason of this situation? Is there any patch or fix?

While process is going on, we see the hdd properties and it gets larger but the file does not change.

But on win 2000 and 2003 platforms, there was no problem with it. When we start to use 2008 server, we find it.
 
I'll admit that I don't spend a whole lot of time watching file sizes grow or not grow on all of the various flavors of windows but it has always been this way whenever I have looked.

Perhaps you were using a different filesystem type on w2k?
