Old Dog, New Trick

In that case, welcome to the wonderful world of events, methods, objects, functions, appservers, internal procedures, persistent procedures, PUB/SUB, multi language support, the debugger, widgets, dynamic temp-tables, dynamic queries, xml, datasets and so many more extremely exciting things !

What version are you on now?

Paul

Some new 4GL commands between v6 and v10? Man, you must not have read the docos yet  Well, you are fortunate to have skipped the stormy times of Templates and the first shaky versions of the UIB in V7, then ADM1 in v8, which was quickly followed by ADM2 and then a stint of Dynamics (which is just about ready to be canned if you ask me). And, now you stepped in just before being able to use .Net controls to build your GUI....

Oh, by the way, since you are on v10 now, the entire Progress Development System is called OpenEdge (the company is still called Progress though) and the 4GL is now referred to as the ABL (Advanced Business Language or something like that); just to make things confusing for us old dogs

Anyway, again, welcome back and enjoy!

Paul

Thanks again. Well in between V6 and OpenEdge, I WAS into vb6 and a mix of V6. So the change to OpenEdge is not as hard as to one that will jump from V6 to OpenEdge without any gui programming in between. Well again thanks.
