ODBC connection progress remote ms sql server 08

Dear all,

I am a newbie with progress. The task seemed to be easy and became a nightmare. Maybe you can help me.

All I want is to access a progress database from a remote ms sql server 08 via odbc to query some data an work with it.

Not very sensational but with progess obviously not the easiest thing in the (developer) world.

After spending a lot of expensive time of research I am not smarter then before.

Maybe you can help me. I am starting with one easy question:

Is there any odbc driver avaiable for free?

Please help me.

First ... define your environement, this information should be mandatory on this site,
if the maintainer of this site listen ... you have to provide some combo-box with Progress version,
OS and architecture.

so ... tell us :
1) Progress version
2) Opertating System for Progress Application
3) Architecture (CHUI, GUI, Web,etc.)
4) the progress database server is started in shared-memory or tcp/ip ?
5) your machine MSSQL server is what OS ?
