Multi-Volume DB.

Hi ,

I am working in Progress 8.3 (Hp-ux based). I have converted my database into multi-volume database, but database response time has gone down.. If i keep volumes sizes smaller like 200 mb to 500 mb then will it help in increasing response time or will still the same..

Presently my first volume size is 2 gb.

When u're using multi volume database , u can have better performance when u place volum on different disk. U can then place the BI on another disk. For performance, the raid configuration can also act. For better performance we use only raid1 configuration

... and optimize RPB (records per block) for each table and put all indexes in 1RBP areas.

and ideally, the fixed extents are recommended to be a maximum of 1GB
