Well... there's a difference between needing something from a technical perspective, and needing something from a business perspective. We're probably right on the cusp of the justification (300+GB database). Loads of legacy data that we can't archive off, and loads of tables with natural split points too. It would make a huge difference to performance. But in terms of bums on seats' time saved it's not going to be enough IMO. Still - much bigger fish to fry in terms of our performance gains at the moment. And the small subject of High Availability. I wonder if there's a workshop any time soon?!
