Oh right silly me! So the issue I'm having is that the menu does not have any sub menus, so in this case, it's just File only and the accelerator is against that. For some reason when I remove the sub menus under File, I still can't assign an accelerator key to it. But I can using dynamic menus but the issue with that is the accelerator shows as a part of the label which is not what I want. It's not too much of an issue as I can just not assign accelerator keys to it but it would be nice if there was an actual fix for it
