Error at starting Progress Explorer

Pokerface

New Member
Hi People ...

I am running Progress 9.1c. At first without any patches installed, now (since yesterday) I have installed the 9.1c25 patch retrieved from Progress.com

But now, when I want to start the Progress Explorer, I get the following messagebox:

Snap-in failed to Initialize.
Name: <unknown>
CLSID: {7355F79A-E5E1-11D5-9E56-00C04F68C4F1}

When I click OK, the Progress Explorer starts and displays the following message in the right side of the window:

Snap-in creation failed.

Has anyone got an idea ? I could really use a few ...

Thx.
Gerben.

Hello,

here is the Progress Knowledge Base Entry 22025:
Kbase Id:

Title:
9.1C22 Patch -- "Snap-In Failed to Initialize" Error

Creation:
14-May-2002

Modified:
16-May-2002

SUMMARY:

Progress Technical Support has received calls about the NT 9.1C22
patch and a "Snap-In Failed to Initialize" error that occurs when
starting the Progress Explorer.

EXPLANATION:

This is not a bug in the patch. In the README.PAT file that comes
with this patch, step 4 in the INSTALLTION NOTES section tells you to
register the "proexptlr.dll" file that comes with this patch.

SOLUTION:

Step 4 from the README.PAT file states:

4. Restart the PROGRESS processes and verify that this patch has fixed
any issues as expected.

Make sure you register your new "prox.dll" file. From the "Start"
button, select "Run...". Enter the following command:

[PROGRESS]\bin\regsvr32.exe [PROGRESS]\bin\prox.dll

and click on the "OK" button.

For correct operation of Progress Explorer make sure
you register your new "proexptlr.dll" file.

From the "Start" button, select "Run...".

Enter the following command:
[PROGRESS]\bin\regsvr32.exe [PROGRESS]\bin\proexptlr.dll

and click on the "OK" button.

NOTE: You will also be required to add your local or remote server
again in Progress Explorer. Your configuration should stay intact
(Databases, AppServer, etc.).
